The purpose of this prize is to promote, stimulate and sustain interest in deeper understanding of the theories and practice of Geomatics in institutions of higher learning in the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as well build awareness of the role of Geomatics in national development among the general public.

ELIGIBILITY
The award is open only to full-time Nigerian students undertaking programmes at universities, monotechnics and polytechnics in Nigeria, leading to an accredited degree or diploma with a Geomatics (surveying & geodesy, geoinformatics, satellite navigation and positioning systems, engineering survey, mining surveys, ocean mapping, hydrography, remote sensing, imaging, and mapping; geospatial data infrastructures; geographic information systems) subject discipline

PROJECTS
Competition papers shall describe a completed practical project, be not more than 20 pages in length and, will be rated based on the following criteria:

  • Originality
  • Use of Geomatics equipment/instruments
  • Practical value/national development impact
  • Conciseness and clarity of expression
  • General interest

  • ANALYSIS OF POLLUTANT EMISSIONS AND DISTRIBUTION IN ABA
  • LONG-TERM MONITORING OF LAND USE AND COVER CHANGE IN THE URBAN AREAS OF KADUNA USING GIS
  • APPLICATION OF HYDRODYNAMIC MODEL GENERATED TIDES TO REDUCE HYDROGRAPHIC SURVEY DATA

Winners will be selected by a distinguished expert panel of judges.

First prize - A solid Gold Medal & cash award of  N300,000

Second prize - cash award of N100,000 and a certificate

Third prize - cash award of N75,000 and a certificate
